At Thomas Hickman, we feel very strongly about the importance of mathematics. It is imperative that children develop a deep understanding of maths as it contributes to them becoming successful adults who are able to reason logically and solve problems. We follow the White Rose curriculum which allows our children to ‘master’ maths. Learning at Thomas Hickman is purposeful, structured, and designed to help our students get ready for secondary school education. We aim to make sure every child in our school has a strong, mathematical foundation to build upon year by year. It’s not about answering things quickly, it’s about knowing ‘why’ and ‘how’ things happen and being able to apply that knowledge and understanding to both their work and a plethora of real-life problems.
