Uniform

The School has a uniform and the co-operation of parents/carers is requested to ensure that each child is provided with and wears this at all times.

School uniform is important at THS for the following reasons;

• promoting the ethos of a school

• providing a sense of belonging and identity (we are proud to be THS BIRDS!)

• setting an appropriate tone for learning

All school uniform is now supplied by Bucks Schoolwear Plus. Uniform can be ordered online for collection or home delivery via their website https://bucksschoolwearplus.co.uk/ or you can go in store at the following address; Unit 11, The Vale Industrial Estate, Southern Rd, Aylesbury HP19 9EW.

Affordability statement

The staff and governors have considered carefully the total cost of our school uniform, taking into account all the items of uniform or clothing parents will need to provide while their child is at the Thomas Hickman. We have kept branded clothing to a minimum with only the school jumper/cardigan branded with our logo and our House PE t-shirts. All other uniform items can be bought at local shops and supermarkets at a low cost.

In 2021 we changed our policy to include black (not just grey) trousers, the aim of this move was to support ‘hand-me-downs’ within families and across cousins/friends etc. from other schools.

No pupil should be discouraged from participating in any aspect of school life, such as interschool competitions, because of the cost of additional uniform requirements. Speak to Fay or Abi in the Acorn Centre if providing school uniform for your child/children is proving a financial burden: we can and will support you.

We have a new Uniform Swap-Shop operating in the Acorn Centre - pop in and speak to Fay to grab a uniform bargain.

Details Of Our Uniform Are As Follows:

• Navy Thomas Hickman sweatshirt or cardigan

• Black or grey trousers / skirt / pinafore dress

• White buttoned shirt / white blouse

• White Hijab or headscarf (optional)

• Black / grey / white trousers under a skirt, dress or tunic are optional for religious requirements

• Black shoes (No sandals. No Heels. No Trainers. No Boots)

• White, grey or black socks / grey or black tights

Optional for Muddy Ducks Nursery and Pre- School ONLY

• White polo shirt

• Grey/black jogging trousers while children are toilet training

Optional Summer Uniform

• Black or grey knee length shorts

• Blue and white checked dress

PE Kit:

• House colour t-shirt (yellow, red, blue or green)

• Black shorts or leggings / jogging bottoms

• Plimsolls or trainers.

• Plain black jumper

During PE lessons all children will be required to remove their stud earrings for reasons of Health and safety.

Jewellery

Children are not permitted to wear jewellery to school. Watches may be worn, but they are the responsibility of the child concerned.  Children with pierced ears may only wear plain metal studs.

Our school uniform is inclusive and unisex.
